Milka Moraa has termed her experience when she was sent away after asking Pastor James Ng’ang’a for help as very painful, saying she wouldn’t want anyone else to go through it. The woman had attended a church service at Neno Evangelism Centre and tearfully shared with the man of God that her door had been locked for one week because of rent arrears. The man of God told her to seek help from Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja or report to the police. He was emphatic that his church is only for spiritual matters and not for offering people financial help. How much does Moraa owe landlord? Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Moraa said that her house had been locked for one week over two months’ arrears.
“I did not even have fare to get home to Mukuru Kwa Njenga and yet the church ended so late. I really cried and another woman came and helped me with money to go home,” she said. “He really mistreated me, and I said if I had my own money I would never treat anybody like that; I would help them,” she added. Moraa said she needs KSh 8000 for house rent and KSh 5000 for school fees. The young mum of two also said that she would like to sell clothes in a business boutique.
How did Kenyans react to Moraa’s story? Many people felt sorry for Moraa after learning of the incident and among them is Wairimu Kimani, a Kenyan woman who lives in Washington DC. Other Kenyans were also astonished by how the pastor treated the woman, even telling her to go and live in the Affordable Housing program’s houses. Online personality Jarunda Jaluth Mambobiad also offered to pay two years’ rent for the woman.
