She recalled the challenging moment she was diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after joining high school. “2022 was bad for me. After I was discharged, my father passed away (through a road accident). Around that time, we were to go to India again, so it was hard, financially, emotionally, and everything else,” the 20-year-old narrated. When did Melvine travel to India? In 2023, she travelled to India, where she underwent a bone marrow transplant following the blood cancer diagnosis. She could not sit for her final high school examination as she recovered from the operation, making her reluctant to study.
