TUKO.co.ke has learned that the bus overturned at Nyanchabo centre on Thursday, January 9, with several passengers on board while on its way from Kehancha to Migori town.
An employee of Tahmeed Bus Company was the only passenger who died fatally in the accident, while others who sustained minor injuries were rushed to various hospitals in Migori. According to Kevin Chacha, a witness, the bus fell after slightly veering off the road and landed in a ditch. “I was on my way to the shopping centre when I realized the bus was approaching me, but it was not steady. Before i could clearly see what was happening i had a loud bang , the bus had veared off the road and it was down,” Kelvin said told TUKO.co.ke.
Another witness, Veron Ghati, said a distress call from passengers onboard attracted the attention of the people nearby, who rushed to save the injured. “I was at the centre when I heard a distress call. The passengers were calling for help, and we responded. We only saw one middle-aged man brought out dead but the rest were injured and were quickly rushed to hospital, ” Ghati said. Police have launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
