The question of Star Chebet’s whereabouts has been drawing increasing concern, as her widely followed social media accounts appear to be deactivated, and there has been no recent activity from her for quite some time.
Her previous admissions may offer some insight into why she has been absent from the public eye.
Best known for her role in the popular show The Real Househelps of Kawangware, the actress has been candid about the personal challenges she has faced in recent years, starting around three years ago.
2024 Confession
In 2024, Chebet took to Instagram to share that she had unknowingly been involved in opening spiritual portals. Reflecting on her past choices, she expressed deep regret:
“Life has been moving too fast… I’m not sure if I’ll be okay by the end of the day, but I’ve found myself in a situation I can’t easily undo. Life is spiritual, and in my search for peace of mind, I think I connected with the wrong energies. To those I’ve hurt along the way, I’m truly sorry, and to those who have supported me, thank you. I made new friends who were on a completely different path, and I got involved in things I didn’t expect. I don’t think this will end well.”

She further revealed that she had been pressured into silence and shared disturbing details about how she was initiated into a cult:
“The story I shared about being recorded was all spiritual… Someone wanted me out of town so I could go to Kericho and participate in activities I didn’t fully understand. For months, my mind felt clouded. It all started when I went to the hospital. My family and doctors thought I was hallucinating, but I had unknowingly tapped into the wrong spiritual realms due to an addiction I struggled with. They say marijuana isn’t harmless, but it’s crucial to have the right company and avoid isolating yourself. Also, be cautious about who you take photos with—many innocent people get drawn into spaces they don’t belong.”
She also spoke about spiritual dangers and how her voice and energy were manipulated:
“My mind was used to open a portal in Kericho… Some of you know I’ve been spiritually threatened and silenced. For those who are energetically sensitive, sometimes those voices are real. Makeup also has spiritual significance—ask about it. That’s why I wore it for months. No wonder you haven’t seen me around. I could hear voices in my room, and it turns out my voice was used to channel a spirit I didn’t know. Some of your ancestors and spiritual guides are out there. Protect your energy. This all started after I drank water at someone’s house. Water is life, but you can’t always understand people’s intentions.”

Despite her struggles, Chebet had a strong social media presence. She boasted 1.2 million followers on Facebook, 428K followers on Instagram, and more than 300K followers on TikTok.
Social Media Presence
“Zikikosa wenyewe tunazifunga tu by end month,” she once said about her mother’s foresight.
Between 2010 and 2022, Chebet’s mother often spoke about her own death, a recurring topic that weighed heavily on Chebet.
“My mum came with me to her marriage. My relationship with my step-family was not easy. Being an outsider and a misfit was not easy. At some point, my mum became single. I do not know where my stepdad went to. Depression and anxiety came from that.”
She also opened up about the anxiety caused by being raised by a stepfather: “I started getting migraines in Class 7,” she shared.
Chebet’s struggles with mental health date back to her adolescence, with migraines beginning in Class 7.

Struggles with Depression and Loss
Chebet has long been open about her battle with depression, which worsened following the loss of her mother in 2022. As the firstborn, the responsibility of the family and the grief took a toll on her.
Her mother had suffered from an acute kidney injury, which went unnoticed until it was too late. Chebet revealed that multiple hospital visits had failed to provide a proper diagnosis, allowing the condition to worsen into a chronic illness.
The loss of her mother, whom she described as her sole parent, was devastating.
