Busia senator and presidential aspirant Okiya Omtatah has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Gideon Kibet, popularly known as Bull, following his abduction. Kibet Bull was abducted moments after he left Busia senator Okiya Omtatah’s office. Kibet, a renowned cartoonist known for his viral silhouettes of President William Ruto, was reported missing shortly after meeting with Omtatah.
The senator revealed that Kibet had visited his office to discuss potential collaboration on his presidential campaign before Kibet’s planned trip to Israel for further studies. “Kibet visited my office on Tuesday, December 24, between 11am and 4pm. He came to introduce himself to me and to explore how he could join my team before his scheduled travel on Friday, December 27, to Israel to join Tel Aviv University for further studies,” Omtatah confirmed in a press statement witnessed by TUKO.co.ke.
“He informed me that he is a very strong supporter of the work I do and that he had travelled to Nairobi from Nakuru that morning just to meet me before flying out. He also informed me that he would be staying at his brother’s place in Kikuyu until his departure,” the statement added. Who abducted Kibet after meeting with Omtatah?
Following their meeting, Omtatah arranged for his driver to drop Kibet off at Kencom bus station in Nairobi CBD. A while later he learnt of Kibet’s disappearance and filed a missing person report at the Upper Hill Police Station, registered as Occurrence Book Number 25/25/12/2024. He also provided authorities with details of the vehicle believed to have been involved in the abduction.
“Subaru Forester with registration number KCG 089A which on conducting a search on the National Transport and Safety Authority Authority (NTSA) website revealed that the reg. number is that of a Toyota Station Wagon came and parked across the road from our office block immediately after Kibet arrived at Taj Tower.
The details in the NTSA website indicated that the details of the vehicle belong to Catherine Kalaju,” he claimed while expressing confidence that the alleged vehicle belongs to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
