Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi has hinted at using unorthodox means to pressure Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen to address the abductions of young Kenyans deemed government critics. In the last four days, at least five Kenyans have been reported missing, with their whereabouts remaining unknown.
Putting Murkomen to task, Havi threatened to marshall his colleagues in lawyers to push for the CS’s debarment from the profession if the abductees were not freed. “CS Kipchumba Murkomen, you know Dr Gibbon Kamau Kuria SC, Hon Paul Muite SC, Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC and I can sign a statement on this matter of abductions and bring your legal and political career to an abrupt end. Please have the three men released immediately,” he said on X. Murkomen, who took over the Interior docket on December 20, has stayed clear of the extrajudicial acts.
