Raila graces Kabarak University 20th Graduation

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is gracing the 20th Graduation Ceremony of Kabarak University.

Kabarak University is a private institution of higher education, established in 2002 by the second President the late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.

The University is located in Nakuru County, about 20 km from Nakuru town and 12 km off the Nakuru-Eldama Ravine road.

Raila joined former Rongai MP Raymond Moi and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi who is the Chancellor of the university at the Graduation Square for the 2,541 graduands.

This is the highest number of graduates since the university’s inception.

Raila returned to the country after concluding his latest leg of campaigns for his bid for the African Union Commission chairperson.

This week Raila was in the Central African Republic where he met President Faustin-Archange Touadera.

On his X account, Raila thanked the president for hosting him in Bangui to share his vision for Africa as he continued his campaign for the AUC chairmanship.

Raila was also in Djibouti the home country of his main rival Mahmoud Ali Youssouf for a meeting with President Ismail Guelleh. The Djibouti candidate is seen as Raila’s biggest challenger.

Kenya is keen to secure enough support for its candidate amid strong opposition from Youssouf ahead of next year’s polls.

Raila who said he will not be breaking for Christmas has had a packed campaign itinerary that hs seen him visit Eritrea, Chad and Central Africa Republic in December.

Raila had in November pitched camp in West Africa where he made his case to a number of French-speaking countries.

Raila will be heading to the western part of the Arab World (Maghreb region). The region has five countries in the northern part of Africa – Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania.

On December 13, Raila attended the Mjadala in Ethiopia – Public debate for all AUC candidates which is a televised debate broadcast live throughout Africa.
