Kagwe is set to replace the current CS Andrew Karanja who has been nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil.
“His Excellency the President has today made nominations, re-assignments and appointments to the senior ranks of the Executive. The nominations effected are in regard to individuals to serve the Nation in its foremost policy organ – Cabinet – as well as in the Foreign Service. The Head of State and Government’s Executive Action re-aligns Ministries, State Departments, and Kenya’s Foreign Service to optimize performance and enhance service delivery as set out in the Administration’s revitalized plan under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” read a circular signed by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Thursday
Here are some details that you should know about Mr Kagwe.

Born and grew up in Mukurweini in Nyeri county. He attended Kihate Primary School and sat his O levels at Kagumo High School.
After Secondary school, Kagwe went to the University of Nairobi, where he studied Insurance Law before furthering his education at the United State International University USIU, where he undertook a master’s degree in business administration.
He was also doing private business at the time.
He rose to the position of commercial director before launching a small independent publishing house and later a Public Relations company.
In 2005, the late President Mwai Kibaki appointed Kagwe to his cabinet as the Minister for Information, Communication and Technology ICT.
He returned five years later in 2013, gunning for a seat at the Senate on a Narc Party ticket.
In 2017, he announced his bid for the Nyeri Gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee Party ticket but lost. Again, he stepped away from active politics for two years.
in 2019, he was appointed to the Board of EPRA, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
On 14 January 2020, former President Uhuru Kenyatta reshuffled his Cabinet and nominated Mutahi Kagwe to take charge of the Ministry of Health.
