Mutua stated that the workers recruited as part of Kenya’s labour export initiative were warmly welcomed by their employing agencies and Kenyan officials stationed at the airport upon arrival.
“Over the past few days, a total of 283 Kenyan workers have made this transformative journey. The first group of 30 left Nairobi two days ago, followed by the second group of 28 and the third group of 80 yesterday. This morning, the final group of 145 arrived safely and is now settling into their new environments, prepared to begin working and gaining valuable skills,” the CS announced.
The CS noted that the reception was seamless, and the workers were swiftly transported to their respective destinations to begin work. Recruitment of Kenyans for jobs abroad On November 27, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection had temporarily paused the national job recruitment programme after conducting recruitments across six counties.
The CS had announced that the first phase of the recruitment was successful, and the break was necessary to process all the necessary documents for those who had secured jobs to travel to Qatar. Mutua also stated that the pause was necessary in preparation for Jamuhuri celebrations and to ensure the speedy issuance of passports and certificates of good conduct to successful applicants so that they can start travelling.
He further stated that the ministry would announce the resumption of the recruitment exercise after the Jamhuri-Day celebrations under a new schedule across various counties.
