A tragic road accident at Olonini Bridge along the Narok-Bomet Highway on Saturday, December 14, claimed six lives and left 16 others critically injured. The collision involved a Narok Line matatu and a bus belonging to Mesabisabi Secondary School. What caused Bomet-Narok fatal accident?
According to police reports, the crash occurred when the school bus, heading towards Bomet, attempted to overtake carelessly amid heavy downpours, colliding head-on with the matatu travelling towards Narok. Citizen Digital reported that three passengers in the matatu died instantly at the scene, while 10 others sustained minor injuries.
Those injured were rushed to Ololulung’a Sub-County Hospital, where two women and a young girl later succumbed to their injuries. The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Narok County Hospital for identification and post-mortem examinations. Police confirmed that the bus driver fled the scene and is now being sought for questioning.
As investigations into the incident continue, both vehicles have been towed to Narok South Sub-County Police Headquarters for inspection. This contributes to a series of accidents that have shocked the country since the start of the year, despite authorities urging drivers to obey traffic laws.
