A 52-year-old Nakuru man has succumbed to severe injuries he sustained after his wife allegedly attacked him with acid while at his home. The Nakuru man died a painful death after he was allegedly attacked with acid. Elijah Matoke was allegedly doused with acid while on his bed, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
Speaking to Inooro TV, a neighbour detailed the events after Matoke was attacked, saying she heard him screaming while writhing in pain, saying he was about to die. “We heard screams of ‘woi, ninakufa, wamenimaliza’. We came here, and we found him with burns, looking pink. I panicked and asked his children what had happened to their father,” Lilian Magomera said.
The man’s children told her that they did not know who had attacked him with acid. His daughter Claris Matoke painfully said her dad died a painful death, adding he got severe burns during the incident. “While at the hospital, he called out to me and said: ‘My daughter, hold my hand and take me home’.
I did not know which home he was talking about because those were his last words,” she said, with her voice punctuated by her cries. Elijah Matoke’s wife implicated Police officers in Kaptembwa, Nakuru, have since confirmed this incident, saying the man’s wife and his son are the main suspects in the attack.
“They are in custody, and once we are done with investigations, we will arraign them in court for the offence of murder,” Anderson Njagi, Nakuru West police commander, said. Details show that the suspect was married to the deceased as a second wife for 16 years.
They had an argument which escalated into a full-blown attack. The couple is said to have had a strained marriage. Residents have urged couples to amicably resolve domestic disputes instead of resorting to physical violence.
