The fast-rising modern R&B and contemporary Afro-pop sounds musician is famed for incorporating her mother tongue, Kikuyu, into her lyrics is all sorts of jolly about the move.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with Mpasho‘s Dennis Milimo, Njerae opened up about the great musical year she has had as well as what getting signed by the giant international music group means for her.
“I have had an amazing year… amazing, amazing amazing. Like from the way I was doing when the year began to right now, like my streams have tripled in like a very insane way. I’m very happy,” the former independent artist gleefully said.

Njerae, who is a protégée of Sauti Sol having graduated from Sauti Academy, went on to add, “The highlight of this year for me is having my own show! Like being able to put up together my own show and it was sold out.
And being signed… getting signed to UMG is insane. Basically, the whole year has been good and I’m so happy. The fans have been supporting me all the way and I just feel so blessed.”
Touching on her new deal with Universal Music and how things are running currently she shared, “Definitely there is a lot more work now, being a signed artist as opposed to when I was a independent artist but I am reaping in the benefits.
I can see the fruits of the hard work and I am very happy.”
Njerae further revealed that she has been working on a multitude of projects, and she is happy to reveal she is done with her 2025 work. Thus, next year will be all about feeding her fans with soulful hits back-to-back.
“We just got done with 2025 work so next year nakuja kuwamaliza, mtapenda (I’m coming to finish you all, you will love it)” Njerae excitedly tells Milimo adding, “The plans are all there, zishaapangwa.”
On if she has any juicy or international collaborations her fans should look forward to the ‘Valhalla‘ crooner said, “expect an EP with some really cool names. So, yeah, both local and international artists.
“I’m just very excited for you guys to see and listen to what I have been working on. It is a whole new different type of vibe,” she finished up she giggled noting that she had made quite a lot of money this year.
“Enough to buy new shoes… I wear expensive shoes,” the vibrant young artist shared.
The songstress was signed by UMG EA back on August 19, 2024. She has also signed to become the Altè ambassador of Kenya.
At the time of the unveiling the artist noted, “To be signed with UMG is one of the most glamorous sounding aspects of the lifestyle of a musician, however, I can assure my fans that I still intent to work even harder to produce even bigger hits.”
