A family is in pain following the untimely demise of their close kin, who passed away on the morning of Monday, December 2. Nandi man Ian Kiptoo collapsed at home in Kipture, Emgwen Constituency, Nandi county, in the morning. Ian Kiptoo passed away while being rushed to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital after he collapsed at home. Kiptoo’s father speaks after his death
The 32-year-old was in his bedroom when he was called to have breakfast by one of his family members. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, his devastated father, Joseah Lang’at, said his firstborn son struggled to make it to the dining room. “He walked a few metres from his bedroom only to turn back after he was overwhelmed. He was struggling to breathe and was returning to his room.
He collapsed on his bed and lay on his face on a pillow. He was struggling to remove his shirt as he was feeling hot, seeking a better way to cool his body and breathe, but he could not,” he said. What was the cause of Kiptoo’s death? It wasn’t until Kiptoo’s sister headed to her sibling’s room to request a phone charger that she found him in a critical condition.
She alerted the family, who rushed the graduate of Kabarak University, where he studied law, to the hospital to get treatment, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. “Kiptoo was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2017, but it was treated. He was okay until recently when it seemed to return.
The doctors said he died due to lack of oxygen. We are deeply hurt. I have remained with one son, and it is a tough time for us as a family,” he said. Burial plans are underway, and financial contributions can be channelled to Lang’at’s number on 0720941524.
