Benedict Kiptoo, a student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Kitale, was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend just days before his planned graduation.  The deceased family is seeking justice.

According to his mother, Gladys Kipkorir, the incident occurred as the family was preparing for Kiptoo’s graduation, scheduled for Thursday, December 5. She was alerted about the incident while she was on duty.

“I was preparing for his graduation scheduled for Thursday, December 5 when I received a call that I was urgently required at the Cherangani Hospital. It was so bad. I did not comprehend until I was told that he was injured. When I came with my family, we found him there lifeless,” the grieving mother told TV47.

Why was KMTC student stabbed to death? A relative revealed that Kiptoo was purportedly attacked by his girlfriend while he was going about his daily activities. The relative explained that the couple had recently disagreed.

When Kiptoo noticed something was amiss, he attempted to flee for his safety. However, his girlfriend quickly caught up with him, overpowered him, and fatally stabbed him in the chest with a knife. “Ben came from his usual work in town.

The welcome he received was not friendly. There was a dispute between him and the girlfriend. When he reached home, the lady confronted him with a knife. He tried to flee for safety but the lady speedily followed, caught up with him and overpowered him. She then stabbed him in the chest,” he explained.

The family is now seeking justice, reflecting on the hardships they endured to educate their son. They also highlighted the issue of men being overlooked in discussions about violence, urging that attention be given to such cases as well.

“We have been lamenting about our female children. This time around, we are crying for male children because they are also being oppressed. I am pleading with the government to help us so that Kiptoo gets his justice as we also calm,” pleaded another relative.
