Trans Nzoia: Family Elated as 78-Year-Old Man Acquires ID After Waiting for Decades

 

A family in Endebess, Trans-Nzoia County, can finally breathe easy as their 78-year-old relative received his National Identity card after nearly 28 years of waiting. The 78-year-old man couldn't stop looking at his National Identification card after waiting 28 years to receive it. What did family of Endebess man say? 

The elderly man, who lives with a disability, was all smiles after reaching the milestone that took nearly three decades to achieve. He was seen holding his ID, inspecting it in apparent disbelief that he had finally received the crucial document. In an interview with the Standard, the man's wife, Irene Chemayek, expressed frustration over the challenges they faced in securing his ID. 

She said she couldn’t understand the problem, as her husband had applied for a national ID numerous times without success. "I just don't understand what the problem was. He applied man times without success. This now prompted our son to get involved, thus enabling him to get the ID today," Chemayek said. Chemayek revealed that she had to list her children as having no father on their birth certificates because her husband lacked an ID.

 "I want to thank God because today, I have seen the light. I had indicated that I am a single parent because my husband had no ID," she added
