Sharon K Mwangi Discloses Major Addiction

Digital content creator and Christian influencer Sharon Mwangi is reaching out to her followers for tips to help curb her social media addiction, which she feels is taking too much from her.

Through her socials, the YouTuber opened up about the severity of her addiction, explaining that at times she sacrifices important activities, like her planned time with God, just to scroll through different social media platforms.

"Hey guys, so I'm back home and I just need to yap for a second. I have this social media addiction that I’ve been trying to beat. My screen time is crazy, I scroll mindlessly, my attention span is horrible... it even takes away from my personal time that I could have used to do other things—more meaningful things. Even my time with God, I find myself sacrificing that so I can come online and scroll mindlessly," Sharon said in a video posted on her Instagram stories.

She shared that she had adopted a helpful habit from a friend to reduce her screen time in the mornings, but she’s still struggling with the issue and knows she can do better.

"I’ve really been trying to beat it, and I saw Yvonne Kanyi talk about how she doesn’t come on social media until 12 p.m. to avoid spending her morning hours online. I’ve adopted that, and it’s been really helpful, but I still scroll before going to bed, and I don’t know how to curb that... but it’s okay, baby steps," Sharon explained.

The content creator also revealed her plans to set a new goal by deactivating her social media platforms for three weeks. "At the end of the year, I want to do a 21-day fast where I don’t come on social media at all. But if you know any other tips I can try, please share," she added.

Captioning the post, Kagwe Mungai’s ex-girlfriend wrote, "Just realized yesterday I barely scrolled and didn’t watch a single Insta story, and that’s such a huge milestone for me because the social media addiction is real, and my screen time is in shambles," followed by a crying emoticon.

Sharon also shared a question tag, encouraging people to send her tried-and-tested tips for overcoming social media addiction.
