Mosiria denies being chased from Impala Gardens
Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geofry Mosiria has dismissed reports on social media claiming that he and his team were chased away from the Impala gardens on Saturday.
Mosiria while reacting to the claims said they walked into Impala Garden to collect exhibits on allegations of noise pollution.
The Chief Officers said after collecting the exhibit they wanted, they vacated the place in haste to avoid confrontation.
"This work, we have a way we do it. Remember the people we are dealing with are drunk and can be chaotic. In such an event the people have gone to the gym and are very masculine, so we have to plan ourselves to avoid chaos,” said Mosiria.
The chief officer termed the claims of being chased away as propaganda adding that they left the gardens without being coerced to do so.
“Even in an instance where we get to the bar, we walk in very fast, before those in the bar can realize what is happening. Most of them are drunk and they can be violent,” said Mosiria.
The Environment Chief Officer has assured the public that no one was hurt during the incident.
Mosiria further urged the people of Nairobi to maintain order whenever they are playing music so that they don’t cause noise pollution and interfere with the peace of their neighbours.
The Chief Officer has been on a campaign to maintain law and order in Nairobi County by ensuring entertainment joints stick to the rules and regulations governing their operations.
His efforts to tame noise pollution have seen some entertainment joints closed for violation of rules guarding the sector.
His campaign came after many residents of Nairobi protested over the rise in noise pollution that emanated from entertainment joints near residential areas.
It is against that backdrop that the Chief Officer, accompanied by his team, began efforts to compel the joints to stick to the stipulated limits of playing music.
Mosiria has also raided churches that have been giving residents sleepless nights during which he gave notices for compliance with set standards.
