Mjaka Mfine Apologises for Mapangale Dance Challenge with Crazy Kennar: "Poleni”

Content creator Mitchell, better known as Mjaka Mfine, has apologised for participating in the Mapangale dance challenge. Mjaka Mfine participated in the Mapangale challenge with Crazy Kennar.  What is the Mapangale challenge? Reggae MC Zendiambo created the controversial trend and mimics the swinging of a machete on the neck and head. It did not sit well with a section of Kenyans, including the Music Copyright Society of Kenya CEO Ezekiel Mutua.

 "This song promotes violence against women. One dancer simulates attacking his partner with a panga. How is that not promoting violence? It’s not funny; it’s harmful. While the artist might not have intended harm, they should accept constructive criticism," Mutua told TUKO.co.ke. Mjaka Mfine made a video with Crazy Kennar doing the challenge but was forced to remove it and apologise after facing backlash online.

 “I am here to apologise. Two weeks ago, I made a video about femicide and was among the first people to speak against it. Then, after that, I made a video with Crazy Kennar.” According to Mjaka Mfine, her video triggered many people. “I do not support femicide. I only did it as a dance challenge. I’m sorry if I offended anyone. I've deleted the video.”

 Kenyans reacted by saying: i.d.i.ot_wech: “She is cowering, yet she is usually fearless.” Stepystephine: “Dropping my video of the Mapangale challenge soon.” _._clout_: “People are about to hate on her for this.” resiano_seni: “Don’t just jump on every challenge without reasoning.”
