Lucy Wambui: 2nd Postmortem Shows Woman's Death Linked to Botched Liposuction Procedure

 

A second postmortem conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor has shown that Lucy Wambui died from a botched liposuction surgery. A second postmortem was conducted to establish Lucy Wambui's cause of death. What did Lucy Wambui’s postmortem say?

 The first post-mortem was conducted by Peter Ndegwa, a pathologist contacted by Body By Design, the facility that conducted Wambui’s liposuction. Ndegwa’s report admitted that there were signs of liposuction, and the cause of death was determined to be cardiorespiratory failure.  "The circumstances of this death need to be investigated to establish at whatever place and time the alleged perforations (if any) of the bowels happened," Ndegwa concluded. In Oduor’s post-mortem, the chief government pathologist affirmed that Wambui underwent liposuction and a BBL..  

She experienced complications within two days and was eventually admitted to the Nairobi Hospital with critically low blood pressure and was diagnosed with systemic infection. Wambui underwent emergency surgery but died on October 26 from severe sepsis and peritonitis Oduor's report, which included detailed descriptions of Wambui's physical condition, stated that the abdominal wounds from the initial liposuction procedure were septic and had fluid oozing from them. 

Her heart was enlarged, and her liver showed signs of fatty degeneration, both indicators of systemic stress caused by the infection or physical trauma. Wambui was also found to have lung oedema, fat necrosis in her abdominal cavity, and widespread inflammation, as well as multiple abscesses indicating infection.
