Maternal Health Advocate Mukami Mwaura has shared her battle with Endometriosis.
According to the World Health Organization, Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.
The mother of three (lost 2 kids) has been battling Endometriosis for 10 years.
Taking to her socials, Mukami shared that she has battled depression and infertility over the same.
"They say the third time’s a charm. Today, I’m going in for my third Endometriosis surgery—this time to address both endometriosis and adenomyosis.
This part of my life isn’t something I often talk about. It’s been over 10 years since I received a positive diagnosis of endometriosis, though my journey with chronic pain began long before that.
This pain has brought its battles: severe dysmenorrhea, depression, infertility, and years of relying on painkillers just to get by. "
She advised people not to ignore painful menses.
"I want to remind everyone that painful periods aren’t normal, and they don’t magically go away after childbirth.
One day, I’ll share my full story. For now, please keep me in your prayers as I head into this surgery. I have faith that I’m in the best hands, and I am grateful For God's Provision of the knowledge and resources that have brought me to this point."
Mukami expressed optimism in the surgery adding that she hopes it would make her life less painful.
"I look forward to a life with less pain and a better Quality of Life, and I find peace in knowing I’ve given my all to my son, my loved ones, and this journey. May my path continue to unfold with purpose and grace.
Always A warrior, God’s Daughter, I know My Father has my Back: Am Still QueenKami ❤️"
