Bomet: 47-Year-Old Teacher Decries Being Overlooked by TSC as Pupils He Taught in 2000s Get Jobs
Mwalimu Kirui, a dedicated and passionate primary school teacher who has taught for two decades, has decried being overlooked by the Teachers Service Commission over the years. Mwalimu Kirui, who wants a TSC job.Who are some of famous names from Bomet? In a story shared by Mutai Mtandao on Facebook, it emerged that despite the 47-year-old teacher's relentless commitment and many attempts to get a job, the government never considers him when opportunities arise.
"At 47 years old, he stands as one of the oldest unemployed teachers in Bomet county, a poignant contrast to the area's rich history of producing influential leaders," he said. Kirui hails from a region that has produced leaders such as Linet Toto, Sosion, Mr Molel of Bomet Secondary, former Member of Parliament Arap Bett, and current senator Beatrice Kones. Despite allegedly reaching out to these leaders, he never got the coveted job at TSC. Why does Mutai want a TSC teaching job?
"What stings most for Kirui is the bitter irony that many of the pupils he taught in the early 2000s are now employed by TSC, while he remains overlooked," said Mutai. "In his eyes, this is an unjust situation that undermines both his years of hard work and his deep commitment to the teaching profession," he added. Kirui passionately appealed to TSC to recognise his years of dedication and grant him the opportunity to contribute his wealth of experience to the education sector.
"His story reminds us of teachers' silent struggles in pursuing a fair and just opportunity to serve their communities," said Mutai.
