American comedian, television host, actor and rapper Nick Cannon just spilled some tea about himself, and it’s a lot to unpack.
The ever-busy dad of 12 confessed on his Counsel Culture podcast that he’s been diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).
According to the veteran actor and singer, he’s hitting almost all the “NPD bingo” markers, and it’s been a trip navigating life with the condition.
While serving up meals at the Los Angeles Mission’s Thanksgiving charity event, the Masked Singer star joked to People that he’d always had a hunch about it—turns out, he was right.
After coming to terms with his diagnosis, the singer/songwriter said he’s making steps towards becoming the best version of himself that he possibly can.
“I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but it’s like, to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me.’ I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way,” he said.
Adding, “I want to be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too.”
Those with Narcissistic Personality Disorder typically find it challenging to have empathy for others, and often have an extremely high sense of self-importance, according to Mayo Clinic.
They also often seek out attention from other people.
