Fred Ambani and Kenneth Wendo are set to lead AFC Leopards when they face Kenya Police in Sunday’s Kenyan Premier League match set for the Dandora Stadium in Nairobi.
Ambani will be in charge as interim head coach while Wendo as his assistant. The changes take place immediately after the club parted ways with Tomas Trucha following a run of poor results.
The two were in charge of Leopards’ training Saturday morning at Jamhuri Grounds to sharpen the team ahead of tomorrow’s contest
Reliable sources have it that the Czech Republic will sit down with Leopards hierarchy to discuss payment modalities as he still had nine months left on his contract.
According to sources, Trucha and the playing unit have not been on good terms hence the poor results that have condemned the 12-time league champions to tenth place on the log with 11 points, 10 behind leaders KCB.
The drop was occasioned by losing three matches in four, the latest one being a 2-0 loss to Shabana which led the Leopards bosses to ultimately dismiss Trucha.
Fans had warned Trucha to post good results at Leopards or walk out after watching the club slide sharply from position one to three before they found themselves in 10th.
Should Ambani post positive results with Leopards then the club bosses could review his position.
Equally, Citizen Digital understands Ambani has not been on good terms with Trucha as the two were not reading from the same script on matters philosophy and team management
After tomorrow’s clash against Police, Leopards will visit the inconsistent Kakamega Homeboyz at Mumias Sports Complex before they host in-form Tusker FC and then face Sofapaka.
