On Monday, Henry Omondi, the young man who vocally protested the sale of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) during the nationwide protests earlier this year, returned to Nairobi from Siaya County, where he has been pursuing his technical studies.
It was a milestone moment for Omondi, as it marked his first-ever flight, landing at JKIA.
Comedian Eric Omondi accompanied him on the journey from Kisumu International Airport to JKIA before they went on to handle other business in the city.
“Our brother today boarded a plane and landed at JKIA for the very first time ever. We celebrate and appreciate him,” Eric said.
Upon getting to Nairobi, Henry was taken to meet Githunguri MP Gathoni wa Muchomba, who asked him about his flight.
“The flight was good. We arrived safely by the grace of God,” Henry said.
The politician applauded Eric Omondi for helping get the young man from the streets and enroll him at Ndere Polytechnic for a technical course.
She also promised to take him for shopping so as to get him things he needs, including clothing and goodies for the Christmas festivities.
“Christmas is approaching; I want to make his festive season great. You see, we don’t even have shoes. We don’t have a shoe to stay here in Nairobi because we only have one pair for school, and it is back in school. It’s also not in good condition. This young man also needs to be bought clothes,” Gathoni Wa Muchomba said.
In addition, Gathoni wa Muchomba also promised to have Henry’s teeth fixed, among other unrevealed things, should she get his consent.
“I want to fix the teeth of this young man if he gives me permission. (Turning to Henry) We said we would fix your teeth; do you want us to fix them? .. We have agreed that we will fix his teeth so he can become a cool gentleman. Then other things that will not to be announced here,” she said.
The MP also promised to support Henry through school and mentor him as he grows.
“I commit to supporting Henry’s education to completion. So now let’s work on his personal grooming and give him a future investment as we mentor him to be a real man. Let the work begin as we settle him,” she said.
She also asked well-wishers who would wish to support the mission to contact her or comedian Eric Omondi.
