He is a Bishop at the Potter’s House, a Dallas based mega church where he serves as the senior Pastor.
“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message,” the statement read.
“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”
The Potters House has not shared what caused his emergency, however a section of netizens watching his service suggest he may have suffered a seizure or a heart attack.
A video of the incident shows him lowering his microphone, shaking in his seat before people around him rushed to his aid.
“Oh Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace,” the pastor reportedly said moments before he dropped his microphone and fell silent.
Soon after, a voice behind the camera instructed the church attendees and online spectators to “begin to pray.”
On his X.com account (Formerly Twitter) they stood in a video addressing worried fans.
“Sharing a quick update on our beloved @bishopjake. He’s doing well.Thank you immensely for your prayers. They are working.”
Adding on IG that, “He’s doing well,” Toure Roberts said. “Today could have been a tragic day, but it wasn’t, but the grace of God.”
“I’m so grateful that he’s already beginning to improve,” Sarah Jakes Roberts said. “It’s a reminder that even going into this holiday season, we need to love on the people who you hold near and dear and just take the time to be grateful for all the people God’s given you.”
