American singer Khalid |
26-year-old American singer Khalid has publicly announced he is gay shortly after being ousted by a fellow musician.
The ‘Young, Dumb and Broke’ hitmaker took to his X account yesterday evening to share the news after speculations of his sexuality started making rounds online.
Clearly triggered by it all and in a bid to get ahead of the story before things completely took a different turn the R&B singer posted the multi-colored pride flag writing, “!!! there y’all go. next topic please lol,”
Reacting to the BET Hip Hop Awards winner’s post a netizen quickly sought to find out if the post was an actual confessional writing, “Wait hope Mr. Khalid isn’t GEHHH!,” to which Khalid commented back with a full chest stating, “I am! And that’s okay.”
In a subsequent post, the “Location” chart-topper went on to reveal he had decided to make the news public since someone had already breached his trust and aired out his business. “I got outted [sic] and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies [sic] business!
But I am okay with me 🖤 love y’all.” the Hollywood star’s Twitter post read.
Another netizen reacting to the news chimed in letting Khalid know they were clear signs he wasn’t straight even before the post noting, “the closet was glass baby. but we accept you. it’s not about who you love it’s about your artistry! 🤍,”
This prompted Khalid to respond, “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business.”
A fan then shared a snippet of the Texas native dancing in his music video for his song “Satellite,” writing, “Then there was the LGBTQ anthem he gave us in 2022 but y’all kinda slept. Either way… hate that Khalid was forced out but he wasn’t ‘hiding’ it. He just didn’t need to TELL nobody.”
Appreciative of the valid point, Khalid replied, “thank you!!!! I was never hiding,” before bidding his followers and fans goodbye. “Aight love y’all thank y’all I’m off this ✌🏾,” he wrote.
The “Location” hitmaker’s public admission comes shortly after a fellow artist named Hugo D Almonte took to X to claim that he had relations with a popular singer but didn’t enjoy the encounter.
“One of your favorite gay R&B singers… and it was really bad. I was dating this dumb singer he’s ugly as f–k but he tried to set me up and lie and say I broke into his house because I broke up with him like why I would go to your house and do all that if I broke up with you dumb ass!” Hugo wrote.
After an overwhelming response from netizens, some of which guessed he was talking about Khalid, Hugo went on to post a selfie of him and the R&B singer looking all cozied up captioning it, “Y’all really really want me to blow this s–t up. Bitch ass 🥷🏾 lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn’t want him.”
