Issack Hassan, the nominee for chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), has revealed his net worth. President William Ruto nominated Isaack Hassan (inset) as IPOA chair. What is Isaack Hassan’s net worth? During a vetting session in Parliament on Friday, November 22, the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman revealed he’s worth KSh 100 million.

 Hassan appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Administration and Internal Security and disclosed that he owned several enterprises, rental apartments, cars, and a house. 

The IPOA chair nominee clarified that he did not conduct a valuation of his assets as he gave an estimate of the value of his wealth. “I have an apartment in Kileleshwa, vehicles and buildings in Garissa. The total amount is around KSh 100 million. I’m giving estimates because I did not do any valuation,” he stated. 

Why Ruto nominated Isaack Hassan to lead IPOA Hassan was the pioneer chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. The president banked on his decades of experience and academic excellence to entrust him with the leadership of IPOA. He practises law and consultancy. 

If the National Assembly approves his nomination, he will take over the agency’s stewardship from Anne Makori, who presided over it between 2018 and August 2024. IPOA came into being in 2011 through an act of parliament. 

The body is mandated to undertake civilian oversight of the Kenyan police and their actions. Who is the new SRC chair nominee? In related news, Ruto nominated Sammy Chepkwony, a human resources specialist with more than 30 years of experience, as the chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

 If approved by the National Assembly Committee on Finance and National Planning, Chepkwony will succeed Lyn Mengich. Chepkwony has held key positions at prominent companies like PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Aga Khan University, and Kenya Airways.
