The Laliat Secondary School student welcomed a healthy baby girl at the Kericho County Referral Hospital.

She was rushed to the hospital, where she gave birth through a caesarean section. "She came with a condition termed as fetal distress, which made her be taken to our theatre and undergo the caesarean section. She gave birth to a baby girl weighing 2.8kg," Joel Tanui, a Kericho County Referral Hospital supervisor, said. Hours later, the 18-year-old mother was ready to sit for her final secondary school national examination.

As a first-time mother, she sat for her first two papers, English and Chemistry, at the hospital's maternity ward. She was not the only one who sat for her examination in the hospital; other candidates also sat in different hospitals. Another candidate who sat for her examination in similar circumstances hailed from Nyahururu, Nakuru county.
