Nyandarua MCAs disown motion to impeach Badilisha

News

Some MCAs in Nyandarua have distanced themselves from a much publicised impeachment motion against Governor Moses Badilisha.

The ward reps termed the notice of motion as misplaced and defective because it did not go through the right procedures.

Led by majority leader Mwangi Nyagah and his minority counterpart Mwangi Gichuki, the MCAs said they were yet to receive the notice of motion to impeach Governor Badilisha as is the procedure and advised residents to treat it as mere propaganda.

While speaking to the press after a day-long indoor meeting at the county assembly, the duo said MCAs were focused on addressing critical challenges facing residents as per their mandate and were not ready to entertain such a debate.

The notice of motion to impeach Badilisha is being prepared by Mirangine MCA Samwel Mathu, who has cited serious allegations against the governor.

The sentiments of the house leaders were echoed by Shamata MCA Reuben Gitau, who observed that Kenyans were now tired of impeachment of elected leaders.

In the notice of special motion, the Mirangine MCA, who is also the vice chairman of the County Assembly Service Board, says the governor has committed gross violation of the constitution or any other law under Article 181 (1) (a) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
