George Ruto’s driver, nicknamed Kinara, has spoken about the vehicle’s earnings. Money Fest’s driver spoke about its earnings. Does Money Fest make KSh 500k monthly? The Money Fest matatu, which hit the roads in August, was controversial. Reports emerged that it was not registered by any Sacco and did not possess mandatory certification by NTSA.
Its compliance status was also questioned after it was reportedly spotted flouting traffic rules. Money Fest’s grand entry into the matatu industry was also met with raised eyebrows after it emerged that George owned it. George bowed to pressure and surrendered the Money Fest matatu for NTSA inspection following an outcry.
A video shared on X on Wednesday, November 13, depicted him at the wheel of the Money Fest Matatu, plying the Ongata Rongai route. Kinara then bragged about how much George splurged on it and how much it makes monthly. “The vehicle cost KSh 20 million, and in a month, we make KSh 500,000,” he said. The co-driver made fun of other city matatus, asking them how much they make daily.
“We are not suffering,” Kinara asserted. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke Collins Waweru, a conductor along the Embakasi route, asserted that the amount was not far-fetched. “We charge KSh 100 to town and earn about KSh 14,000 daily, which translates to around KSh 420,000 monthly. Given that passengers along the Rongai route up to KSh 150, Money Fest can easily make KSh 500,000 monthly.”
Kenyans had this to say about Kinara’s sentiments: @AmoHsToo: “You start counting profits after break-even. Recover money invested first.” @254wunderkind: “Proximity to power should never delude you into thinking you wield it.”
