On Monday, Engonga, 54, a highly-ranking state official in Equatorial Guinea, became a trending topic on social media after a bizarre scandal involving him and 400 women surfaced online.

Engonga, Equatorial Guinea’s Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency, recorded himself making out with hundreds of women, some wives of top government officials while others notable female personalities in the west central African country.

The videos, which have since gone extremely viral on social media, were discovered after his house and office were raided during a fraud investigation.

A search of his data storage gadgets resulted in detectives stumbling upon the videos of Engonga’s shocking sexcapades with the women.

Equatorial Guinea’s investigative agencies say from the clips, some of the identified women include a sister of the country’s President, a wife to the country’s Director General of Police, influential businesswomen, and at least 20 other women who are said to be wives of the country’s cabinet ministers.

From the videos, almost all have been established to have been recorded with the consent of the women and filmed in multiple places, including open beach spaces, washrooms, and office suites.

Investigators say while Engonga’s actions violate the Code of Conduct and the Public Ethics Law in the country, it might be difficult to charge him with any sexual-related offence should the women fail to report being sexually abused.

He has, however, been arrested pending further investigations.
