Pst Teresiah Wairimu Criticises Gov't for Failing Kenyans Months After She Endorsed It
Evangelist Teresiah Wairimu |
"I was convinced this was a God-chosen government," she confessed during her address. "Instead of dealing with important issues like the economy and taxes, they are handling other things," she stated, her tone marked by frustration and concern. Wairimu's critical stance marks a significant departure from her earlier position as one of the pastors who fervently supported Ruto's presidential bid. At the time, she, alongside other religious leaders, maintained that God had revealed Ruto as His chosen leader for Kenya. Now, she acknowledges that the church has learned from its "painful" mistakes and vows to make necessary changes moving forward.
Her remarks come at a politically turbulent time, following the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Gachagua, who was in hospital during the impeachment, left many in shock and confusion. This was compounded by emotional images of his wife, Pastor Dorcas, crying as he was discharged from the hospital and returned home. The evangelist’s criticisms reflect growing dissatisfaction among sections of the church as the government faces increasing scrutiny over its performance amidst rising economic challenges
