Newlywed Kirinyaga Man Seeks Support to Take His Tall Bride on Dream Honeymoon

A groom from South Ngariama in Kirinyaga county has sent an online appeal to Bonfire Adventures Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simon Kabu to sponsor his honeymoon. Kirinyaga man seeks support to take his bride on honeymoon.  Peter Maina Wanjiru and his wife Irene Karimi married on October 12, 2024, in a colourful ceremony at ACK Kirathimo church. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Maina said he has never been to Mombasa and would like to visit the coastal region with his wife.  He, however, noted that he would not mind going anywhere else if offered by Simon Kabu or any other willing party.  “I have never visited Mombasa, and going there with my wife would be a dream come true.

However, I would not mind going anywhere else,” he said. Why Kirinyaga couple asked for honeymoon sponsorship The groom noted that the idea of seeking sponsorship for their honeymoon came after he posted an image of his family a week after the wedding. The image attracted numerous comments about his wife being taller than him. Afterwards, a friend advised him to take advantage of the situation and ask for something, hence the request. “The first image I posted of my family a week after the wedding interestingly got many reactions, and most people were comparing my height to that of my wife, who is taller than me,” he narrated. He explained that he chose Bonfire because he had seen them offer paid trips to many couples and decided to try his luck.

Secrets to happy marriage Maina said that despite the warm reception from netizens, a section had responded negatively, asking him to find his own money for the honeymoon. He advised that in matters concerning relationships and marriage, a spouse's height should not be an issue. The father or two note that it is important for one to marry their best friend because they would get along better. He says all that matters is love, respect, transparency, and understanding, especially with finances.

“One of the things that have brought us this far is financial transparency and the fact that we are best friends," he said. How did Maina meet his wife? The newlywed couple has been in a relationship for 8 years, and their union is blessed with two children.  The groom explained that they met in 2014 while he was selling his books and visiting churches within Kirinyaga county. “We started living together 8 years ago but decided to officiate and renew our vows for each other this year,” he said. Their first encounter was at a church in Gichugu, where she bought one of his books. During this time, Irene worked as a housekeeper for one of the teachers at Kirinyaga Boys Secondary School.

He stated that she approached him after he shared his story during a youth service, adding that she was going through an almost similar experience. “When I shared my life story during the youth service, Irene was inspired by my story as she was also going through the same. She had finished Form 4 through sponsorship by a well-wisher and had no hope of joining a college because of financial difficulties,” he said. The two would reconnect in 2015 and become a couple after Maina returned to college while she enrolled at Machakos Teachers Training College to pursue her dreams.
