Nakuru: Eyewitness Who Discovered Slain MKU Girl's Body Says He Thought She Was Sleeping in Farm

A Nakuru resident who discovered the body of a 22-year-old Mount Kenya University (MKU) student in a maize plantation has recounted the moment he realized the grim reality. Curious residents gather around the scene where the body of a 22-year-old MKU student was found. Brighton Roman, the eyewitness, was heading home when he stumbled upon the body of Vivian Kajaya in the Kiamunyi area. How eyewitness discovered Kajaya's body In an interview with Nation, Roman revealed that he initially thought she was just resting after working on the farm.“

At first, I thought she was taking a nap after tending to the farm, but when I moved closer, I realized she was unresponsive,” he said. He added that together with others, they attempted to wake her, but it was too late—Kajaya had already died. According to a bus ticket found at the scene, Kajaya, a Social Work and Administration student, had travelled from Thika to Nakuru on Saturday evening. What items were in Kajaya's handbag? Her body was discovered on Monday, leading investigators to believe that she was killed between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Preliminary investigations suggest a violent struggle occurred between Kajaya and her attackers, with her phone missing and believed to hold crucial information about her final moments.

Her identification card was found in a handbag hanging on a tree a few metres away. Details indicate that her underwear had been removed, raising suspicions that she may have been sexually assaulted. Police investigating Kajaya's death Detectives are now piecing together Kajaya's last movements and tracing her interactions to determine what led to her brutal killing. Rongai sub-County Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Donnata Otieno assured the public that they are pursuing leads and are determined to apprehend those responsible. "We are tracing her last conversations and movements to uncover the truth. We will not rest until her killers are brought to justice," said Otieno. As investigations continue, the Nakuru community remains in shock, struggling to come to terms with the brutal murder of the young student.
