Nairobi Man Crestfallen as Wife Dies in Hospital While Giving Birth to Their Daughter

Nairobi artist Tom Mboya aka Ngozi Nyeusi, has shared the heart-wrenching circumstances that led to the loss of his wife, Beatrice Akatch. Nairobi Man Aggrieved as Wife Dies in Hospital While Giving Birth to Their Daughter Mboya told TUKO.co.ke that Akatch died during childbirth at Maria Immaculate Hospital in Lavington. When was Beatrice Akatch hospitalised? He disclosed that it all started on Thursday, August 1, when he took his wife to the hospital, where she had been attending her prenatal checkups.

The expectant woman was admitted two days past her due date, and the doctors decided to induce labour that night. "When I visited her the following day, she was experiencing intense labour pains. She was induced again on the night of Friday, August 2," he narrated. Mboya says he expressed concern about the situation and requested a possible referral to Kenyatta National Hospital for a C-section. What caused Beatrice Akatch's death? Despite his request, the doctors assured him that everything was progressing normally and that there was no need for a C-section or referral.

Things seemed to progress well when Akatch gave birth to their daughter, Ngima, on Saturday, August 3 at around 1 pm. However, she suffered a uterine rupture during the delivery and was transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). "At KNH, the situation escalated as my wife passed away at 8.10 pm while being resuscitated," Mboya lamented. How much is Beatrice Akatch's bill? The widow, who buried his wife on Friday, August 16, now finds himself caring for their newborn daughter and her elder sister. Baby Ngima was discharged from the Newborn Unit and is now home with her family. In a moving statement, Mboya recounted the emotional and financial toll this tragedy has had on his family. "I am requesting help from friends and family to raise KSh 1.7 million to cover the pending bills and raise the newborn," he pleaded.
