Mombasa: Puzzle as 75-Year-Old British National is Found Dead, Body Dumped in Bathtub

 

Mombasa residents have been rocked by the mysterious death of 75-year-old John Middleton. Kisauni Deputy County Commissioner Jamleck Mbuba said the suspects might have scaled his perimeter wall. Kisauni Deputy County Commissioner Jamleck Mbuba confirmed the death, revealing the British golfer was found brutally murdered at his residence in Utange.  Middleton's body, bearing serious injuries, was found lying in a bathtub by a cleaner who had come to perform his daily duties.  "We received information that Middleton was found brutally murdered inside his house. His body was discovered by a cleaner who went there in the morning to do her usual cleaning," Mbuba said, as reported by Nation. 

According to the DCC, police officers who arrived at the scene found a machete near the deceased's body, which they believe was used in the gruesome murder. He added that Middleton, who was living alone at the time, had deep cuts on his hands, and while there were minimal signs of struggle. "The body had serious cut wounds on the hands. There were little signs of struggle at the murder scene," Mbuba added.  Who reported Middleton's murder Mbuba pointed out that the cleaner who discovered the body immediately called Middleton’s girlfriend, who resides in Mtwapa. Upon arriving at the scene, she immediately reported the matter to the Kiembeni Police Station, triggering an investigation. "The matter is still under investigation. No one has been arrested in connection to the murder, but investigations are ongoing. I cannot divulge more details at this time. 

We will get to the bottom of the matter and arrest the culprits," he said. Mbuba noted that investigators are yet to determine how the killers accessed the home, though initial findings suggest that the suspects may have scaled the perimeter walls before breaking into the house. Middleton’s body has been moved to The Aga Khan Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination as police continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding his death. Masengeli visited the abduction site with senior security officials, urging cooperation between the public and security teams to aid in the investigation.
