Gachagua's Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru Dismisses Plans to Swear in Kithure Kindiki: "No Possibility"

President William Ruto nominated Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as the replacement for impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has stated that there is no possibility of Kithure Kindiki being sworn in as deputy president any time soon.  Following members of Parliament's overwhelmingly vote in favour of Ruto’s choice for deputy, Kindiki is set to be sworn into his new office. However, one of Gachagua's lawyers, Ndegwa Njiru, argues that Kindiki’s swearing-in as deputy president will not occur soon. What is the explanation behind Njiru's thoughts?

Lawyer Njiru took to social media to declare his stance, stating that the chances of Kindiki being sworn into office soon are slim. He argued that the conservatory order issued by the Kerugoya High Court, which prevents Kindiki from being sworn into office, remains in effect. "There is no possibility of Mr. Kìndiki being sworn in. The conservatory order issued in Kerugoya is still in force. I dare Mr. Ojienda to go on and have the man from Tharaka sworn in," Njiru's post read. This follows senior counsel Tom Ojienda's request for High Court judges to consider applications aimed at lifting the orders that prevent Kindiki from taking office as deputy president.

argued that all orders favouring Gachagua expired on Thursday, October 24. Ojienda further argued that the conservatory order had become a problem because it was issued by only one judge. "If possible, we ask that we be heard today. We don't want to do anything outside the law," he said. What did Danstan Omari say about Gachagua's case? Ndegwa's statement follows Lawyer Danstan Omari's prediction of the impeachment case against Gachagua. Omari stated that the impeachment case against Gachagua could take up to three years before a final ruling is made. He questioned how a court that is on the spot for allegedly violating the law would preside over a case in which Gachagua is accused of acting contrary to the constitution.
