Gachagua Leaks UDA Secret Power Sharing Plan, Exposes Kingi, Wetang'ula: "Let's Be Truthful"
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua |
"The crime of this man is just being truthful because people do not want these things to be known. People have a problem that I am a truthful man. The people of Western Kenya have now known today what their leaders signed with President William Ruto. It is upon them to demand their share as per this agreement," Gachagua stated. He revealed that Kingi's Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) was guaranteed the Senate Speaker's position under Article 8 of the agreement, a promise that was fulfilled after Kenya Kwanza came to power. "In accordance with article 8 of the agreement, PAA would be allocated Speaker of the Senate; he negotiated for himself. Let's be truthful. You brought this motion we'll discuss. The people of Kenya must know the truth because if Rigathi Gachagua is being crucified for being truthful, let the people of Kenya know why he's being crucified. Kingi said position of Speaker, hiyo amepewa," the DP added.
Why does Gachagua think Wetang'ula is a hypocrite Gachagua called out Wetang'ula, accusing the National Assembly Speaker of being part of the agreement that guaranteed Western Kenya a share of government positions. According to Gachagua, Wetang'ula’s calls for his impeachment are hypocritical, given that he, too, was a signatory to the power-sharing pact. "How can Moses Wetang'ula say I should be impeached because of saying people should get their shares when he's a signatory of a share agreement with the president on what will go to Western Kenya, and then they accuse me of tribalism? They did not say anything should go to Central or Mt Kenya, they talked about Western. When I say something for Mt Kenya, I am a tribalist," Gachagua added. Gachagua reiterated that his statements about shares were based on agreements signed by Ruto and other leaders.
