Media personality Dr Mercy Korir has landed a new job months after leaving KTN’s Standard Media Group.
Dr Korir has been appointed as the new CEO and Editor in Chief at Willow Health Media.
She announced the good news via his LinkedIn profile, expressing her excitement about being tasked to head a platform that is dedicated to Health journalism.
“I’m happy to share that I started a new position as Chief Executive Officer & Editor-in-Chief at Willow Health Media!,” Dr Mercy Korir shared.
Korir is a qualified medical doctor-cum a journalist specializing in Health and medical reporting.
On the other hand, Willow Health Media, which positions itself as an editorially independent outlet, is focused on delivering health journalism across various platforms, including broadcast and social media.
Dr. Korir’s leadership is expected to steer the outlet toward becoming a leading voice in health journalism.
As CEO and Editor-in-Chief, she is responsible for driving the strategy to establish Willow Health Media as a go-to source for health information, as well as overseeing a staff that produces content for broadcast and social media channels.
The Gates Foundation's Global Media Partnerships initiative has provided further support to the new media house, enhancing its ability to produce high-impact health journalism.
Dr. Mercy Korir has extensive experience in her new job. Before joining Willow Health Media, she was the Business Development Manager at AAR Hospital, where she was in charge of expanding brand awareness and revenue growth.
She effectively implemented strategic business growth, marketing, public relations, and corporate social responsibility programs to improve the hospital's reach and customer experience.
She worked as the Health and Science Editor at The Standard Group from July 2020 until November 2022, where she handled the Health & Science Desk and the creation of health-related content for print, television, and digital platforms.
Her noteworthy accomplishments include generating money through smart collaborations and guiding the next generation of health and scientific reporters.
Dr. Korir previously worked as a health reporter and anchor for KTN News, where she was recognized for her in-depth coverage of health topics.
Her work earned her the prestigious Uzalendo Award from the Kenyan government for her achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
