Kenyan activist Hanifa deactivated her X account on Monday,14th October 2024. This came after a lot of criticism after she posted a photo of herself attending the Pulse Live awards.

In the videos part of her hair was out, something most people are not used to. Fellow activist Boniface Mwangi has now revealed why Hanifa deactivated her account.

"Hanifa deactivated her account to take a wellness break. She will be back after her rest."

Mwangi was reacting to the post below by @RAbdiAnalyst

"In the end, Hanifa was forced to delete her Twitter X account not because of action by a 'repressive' state but because of toxic hate from fanatical Muslims incensed by her dressing and selfie. The obsession to police what women wear is no longer faith; it is pathology."
