Rigathi Gachagua and Karen Nyamu. |
Nominated senator Karen Nyamu’s submission during Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment motion has elicited mixed reactions. DP Rigathi Gachagua was impeached by senators including Karen Nyamu. What did Karen Nyamu say about Gachagua? Nyamu is among the senators who impeached Gachagua after his bid to postpone the hearing was shot down. Addressing the nation, Nyamu accused Gachagua of seemingly dividing the country along tribal lines. “I was born and raised in Nairobi County- Eastlands, to be specific. We were unaware of each other’s tribe- our neighbour could be from any other tribe.
When I hear the DP talking and allocating shares to specific tribes, I’m aware that he’s excluding more than half the population of Nairobi,” she said. Citing an example to back up her claims, Nyamu said: “He was in the CBD addressing Nairobi residents in the Kikuyu language, accusing them of being all from the tribe. Nothing could be further from the truth.” Nyamu said she was so close to the DP that she danced with him but she decided to send him home. “When you dance with the devil, the devil doesn’t change. The devil changes you,” reacted one Kenyan. Here are more sentiments: @ASBELKEMBOI7: “Politics is dirty.” @IamBrightB3: “You can’t believe this is the same Nyamu who was dancing with Riggy G.”
