Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said they won’t allow the country to be auctioned.
Kalonzo said they would never surrender the country.
“We want to assure Kenyans that we won’t allow our country to be auctioned. We shall fight in Parliament, we shall fight in court, we shall fight on the streets. But, we will never surrender our country,” Kalonzo said.
He addressed the press at a Nairobi hotel on Sunday.
The Wiper leader was flanked by Democratic Action Party – Kenya Eugene Wamalwa, Jubilee Party secretary general Jeremiah Kioni, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Senators Dan Maanzo (Makueni) and Agnes Kavindu alongside Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi among other leaders.
“This week, 73 per cent of Kenyans in an opinion poll confirmed that the country was headed in the wrong direction. As a people’s loyal opposition and the government in waiting, we want to confirm that indeed the country is on the wrong path,” Kalonzo said.
“Kenya is facing an unprecedented state of capture. Two days ago, even with the overwhelming public resistance, the broad-based government went ahead to sign another Sh95 billion energy deal with KENTRACO and Adani. We retaliate our position that the impeachment drama is a scheme meant to divert the attention of Kenyans and to provide cover for these multi-billion deals to be sealed.”
Kalonzo urged the Judiciary to continue being their shield and defender.
On the IEBC selection panel, Kalonzo said they will abide by the court ruling scheduled for tomorrow (October 14).
“We realized that time is extremely of the essence. We believe that the formation of an independent commission that has the trust of the people of Kenya is the most crucial which will safeguard our democracy,” Kalonzo said.
