Village Deeg is in mourning after a tragic accident claimed the lives of eight family members, including five children and three women, on Karnal Road. Sirsa branch canal where eight people headed for prayers perished. The family was en route to pray at the Guru Ravidas temple when the accident occurred early Saturday, October 12. According to the Times of India, their vehicle crashed into the Sirsa branch canal in Kaithal district. Several bodies were recovered shortly after the incident with the help of police and locals. They were pronounced dead at the hospital. Hindustan Times reported that the body of a 15-year-old child was retrieved after seven hours after a diver intervened.
The driver, the sole survivor, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into the water, as per the Indian Express. He was initially taken to a hospital in Kaithal before being transferred to PGI due to his critical condition. PM Narendra Modi consoles with bereaved families Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the grieving families, praying for their strength in this difficult time. He also assured that the local government would provide any necessary support. “The road accident in Kaithal, Haryana is heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in it. May God give them strength to bear this pain. The local administration, under the supervision of the state government, is engaged in all possible help on the spot,” he said.
