The German Embassy in Nairobi has explained why it can’t process or issue any Visa currently.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Embassy said a power outage has adversely affected its IT system, especially in the visa section.
It said that failure by the power backup system has also contributed to this.
“A power outage & backup failure has severely impacted IT systems of our consular & visa section. As of now, we can’t issue any visa. No applications can be processed,” the embassy said.
Officials said they are currently reaching out to Kenyans with upcoming travel schedules to inform them of the same.
The embassy added that it is also working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
“We are calling applicants with imminent travel plans. We are working hard to resolve the issue ASAP.”
This comes amid an expected increase in the number of Kenyans seeking visas to go to Germany.
During President William Ruto’s visit to the country, Kenya and Germany signed a Labour Mobility Agreement that would see skilled Kenyans secure jobs in the European country.
