Winnie Bwire: Body of Sultana Actress Arrives in Mombasa from Turkey Ahead of Burial

Winnie Bwire, renowned as Dida from the TV show Sultana, sadly passed away while undergoing treatment in Istanbul, Turkey. Winnie Bwire alias Dida died of cancer while receiving treatment in Turkey.  Her family announced her death on Thursday, September 5, revealing that she had been fighting cancer (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ - DCIS) for two years. 

Bwire's body has been flown back to Moi International Airport in Mombasa on Sunday, September 8.  Her body was received by family members and fellow artists, some of whom praised her talent and especially keenness in beauty. The family gathered to view and pay their respects at Pandya Mortuary, as they continue preparations for her final farewell. "Getting treatment is very hard. When you do not have money to do the test, that's the reality. I would just like to ask the government to make cancer treatment free or affordable for all," a cancer survivor, Winne Mataya, appealed. 

Bwire will be laid to rest at her home in Western Kenya on a date yet to be announced. When cancerous cells begin to invade the milk duct, symptoms such as itching or a sore may appear (sore formation). Men can also experience DCIS, with symptoms including bloody discharge or a lump in the chest area. Some people experience breast swelling and pain in the breast. Moreover, victims may experience skin changes including puckering skin, thicker skin, and dry, flaky or reddish skin.
