Patrick Patty Bahati, who sadly died in school after a sporting event (l), his dear mum who was peaking in Thika (r).

Thika: The mother of Patrick Bahati, the eight-year-old who died after a school cross-country event, has decried being given conflicting information by the administration of the school. .  Where did Patrick Bahati go to school? The late Patrick, aka Patty, was a Grade Two pupil at Pebbles Academy in Thika. According to his family, he had earlier told his mum that he didn't want to participate in the event, but his parents claimed that a teacher forced him to go and participate.

The young boy was taken to Montezuma Funeral Home, and the school allegedly kept his smartwatch, the clothes he was wearing and shoes "I haven't heard anything that can make me feel that I am settled when it comes to an explanation of what exactly happened to my son. Each and every person who was supposed to give me information gave me a different version," said Mama Patty tearfully. "The principal told me that my son fainted some hours back, and they tried first aid, but it was not working. The principal told me that the child sat down and that he was tired.

I haven't received any good statement from the school that can tell me this is what happened to the child. We can't tell but the way we are looking at it, they may have done something later than when they were supposed to do it," she added.  Mum says Patrick Bahati was brilliant According to Patty's mother, he was a very good and brilliant boy A family friend who also spoke to Kenya Digital News said that she arrived at Avenue Hospital in Thika at the same time personnel of the school arrived with Patty. "We took the baby together with the doctors and from my observation he was foaming at the mouth. When I felt his pulse it was senseless. That is when I realised that he had left us. The school failed because when we tried to gather information they never gave us any answer," she said.
