[PHOTOS] Masengeli celebrates Gold Medalist Moraa, NPS Athletes

 

Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli

Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli on Tuesday morning held a brief ceremony at the Police Pavilion in South C to celebrate the achievements of NPS athletes during the recently concluded Olympics and Diamond League events.

The athletes were represented by Cpl. Mary Moraa who clinched her third Diamond League victory in Brussels last week, where she received the Diamond trophy.

Mary Moraa is the reigning world champion in the 800m women's race.

She bagged gold alongside Cpl. Beatrice Chebet who ended the season on a high after securing victory in the 5,000m event at the Brussels Diamond League.

Chebet is the current world record holder in 10,000m.

"The National Police Service remains committed to fostering excellence in sports and achieving the highest standards of performance for all our athletes," Masengeli said.

The IG was accompanied by Deputy IG-KPS Eliud Lagat and Director DCI Mohamed Amin.

Other Senior Officers present were Directors Kenya Prisons Service (KPS)-Peter Ndung'u, SAIG (Logistics), the Principal Deputy to DIG -KPS- Miriam Muli, SAIG, and Director Personnel-KPS Jacinta Muthoni, SAIG.
