Nairobi: Quiver Lounge in Kilimani Shut Down over Noise Pollution

Quiver Lounge and Grill in Kilimani

County officials have closed down the well-known Quiver Lounge and Grill in Kilimani because of noise pollution. Quiver Lounge in Kilimani has been giving its neighbours sleepless nights.  The lounge's location next to the Department of Defence, State House, and residential areas prompted action from Geoffrey Mosiria, Chief Officer of Environment for Nairobi City County.  Mosiria emphasised his commitment to ensuring that businesses do not disrupt others and mentioned that they have started taking action against those who ignored previous advisory notices to soundproof their venues.  “We have had to close down the establishment because they ignored multiple notices and complaints from neighbours.

This behaviour is illegal, and we are now enforcing action against those who have failed to address our soundproofing requests. We cannot allow continuous environmental pollution and disturbances to our community's peace,” said Mosiria. Who ordered closure of Quiver Lounge in Kilimani? Rodriques Lunalo Mulindi, an aide to Governor Johnson Sakaja, confirmed to TUKO.co.ke that the closure followed an order from President William Ruto, issued before he left for Nyeri on Sunday, September. Mulindi noted that the operation went smoothly, with the club owner cooperating and revellers leaving the premises without much interference.

"The president directed the closure of the club. In the evening, the governor informed us that he had sent a team to enforce the order. We measured the noise levels, which were indeed disruptive to the neighbourhood. Despite some initial resistance, the closure was successfully carried out, and the owner signed the necessary documents before leaving,” he explained.
