Friends School Kamusinga: Grief as Form 2 Student Dies after Falling into School's Septic Tank

Grief and sorrow have engulfed Friends School Kamusinga in Bungoma county following the untimely death of a Form Two student.   The student, whose name has not been revealed, died after drowning in a septic tank at the school on Sunday, September 15. What Kamusinga High School management said A statement by the school BOM chairman, Moses Poipoi, says the student fell into the tank before he was retrieved and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Poipoi said the Form Two student died at 7pm while undergoing treatment at Life Care Hospital. 

"I wish to inform you that I received a call from the chief principal at 4pm on September 15 with regard to the late student that had fallen and been retrieved from the septic tank in the afternoon. He was taken to Kimilili Sub-county Hospital and then referred to Life Care Hospital for further management. He passed on at 7pm while being attended to at Life Care Hospital," Poipoi said in a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke. Poipoi said the Ministry of Education, together with that of Interior, have already launched investigations into the incident. On behalf of the school management, students and staff, Poipoi sent his condolence message to the family of the Form Two student. 

 "Meanwhile, investigations by the Ministry of Education and Interior are ongoing. The executive team joined the staff in addressing the students. There is relative calm in the school. As a board we have resolved that safety and security measures be addresses on school. "On behalf oof the students, staff and BOM , I wish today to convey our sincere condolences to the family," he added.
