Faith Kipyegon concluded her season with a dominant victory at Athlos NYC meet on Friday, September 26. The Kenyan won the women’s 1500m in front of a loud and packed Icahn Stadium in New York City. Among the spectators were American-based Kenyan actor Lupita Nyong’o, who was cheering on her competition during the race. Faith Kipyegon won her last race of 2024 in front of Lupita Nyong’o. Kipyegon entered the race looking to end her season on a high after bagging her third Olympic gold medal last month. The race was slow, and she clocked 4:04.79 to win ahead of perennial challenger Diribe Welteji of Ethiopia, who finished second in 4:05.58.
Kenya’s Susan Ejore-Sanders was third in 4:06.25, per Prime Time Timing. Other celebrities at the event included Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel, rapper Flavor Flav, television producer Shonda Rhimes, and former Olympic champion Justin Gatlin.
